If you had written for a long time and then your manuscript was lost, what would you do?
To hear
what I did, tune in to episode 458 of the podcast Living
the Next Chapter. I share my thoughts on this from 10:55 to 12:40.

In the
1990s, I started writing just to clear my mind. Back then, there was no cloud,
and computers weren't as good as they are now. One day, my husband rebooted our
computer and lost everything I had written. I was halfway done and decided just
to let it be. I probably wasn’t meant to write that book. He, of course, felt
awful about it.
A few
months later, my husband gave me a CD on which he had written: “It's back!”
He had
worked hard to recover my work from the hard disk. Today, it might seem easy,
but back then it could be difficult. Seeing my work again made me think I was
meant to write it after all.
While on
maternity leave, I decided I wanted to publish the book before turning 40. My
book, Jenny, Jenny came out when I was 41, but I finished it by 40, so I
counted that as reaching my goal.
Since then, I've written many books.
The journey was long and rocky, but I am happy that writing is now a big part of my life.
